Well, as you probably have already noticed…this post is QUITE late. We have actually been in Houston, Texas since the end of March. Either way, here are some of the very few photos I have taken since we arrived. Our first stop once we successfully made it across the barren plains of Texas to the first signs of a major populated city, was San Antonio. If you have not been to San Antonio before, you really should make it a priority to see the next time you are in the vicinity (and NO, your weekend spent “on the town” after basic training does not count). It was a beautiful 70 degree day outside and Allison, ANT, and Grandma Rocky had never been before. We ate lunch on the Riverwalk and spent a little time visiting the world famous Ft. Alamo. Adelynn even had some fun playing in some flowerbeds along the way. San Antonio’s Ft. Alamo is extremely rich with Texas history and played a key role in our state’s independence, making it one of my favorite places.

After about two weeks in Houston, we moved up to the north side of town (Cypress) to spend some time with my family. My Aunt Beth, Uncle Kevin, Cousins Abigail, Paige, and Weston all live on that side of town. I have only been back to Houston about 6-7 times in the last 12 years, so being able to see my family again after so much time away is a very big plus for me. It was Easter Sunday and Adelynn was adorn in her beautiful Easter dress that Grandma Rosy bough her. She looked so cute. My cousin Weston also has a son named Nathan and he is just about 1 month younger than Adelynn, making them instant buddies. No family get together is complete without some feast be it big or small and today was no exception. My uncle is known for his outgoing personality around a grill, stove, or boiler and decided to whip up a continuously flowing batch of fresh crawfish! Our family is predominantly French/Cajun, so this is right up our alley and most everyone on the Gulf Coast of Texas is familiar with these little ditch bugs.

After a break from cracking, peeling, and eating some crawfish, the kids decided to jump in the pool and cool off. Adelynn absolutely LOVES Abigail! I mean it, she goes crazy for her when her name is mentioned or she walks into the room. It really makes me happy to be able to have ANT grow up with family around. Something that was a big part of my childhood was spending a lot of time with this part of my family and it is weird to see it come full circle with my daughter.
No Easter is complete without us having some Easter eggs for the kids to “hunt”. Being that my uncle lives on a lakeside neighborhood with numerous ducks, geese, and storks around, it is not uncommon to find some REAL eggs during the search. Luckily, today was not one of those days and the little ones were able to turn up only the plastic, money and candy filled ones.

This weekend was a great way for us to be welcomed back home. It really made me love my decision to come back here even more. We all had a great time with family and are excited to be able to spend much more time with them now that we are back in town. A relaxing day eating authentically amazing food doesn’t hurt either. Thanks guys for our welcome home and for putting up with us for two whole weeks. We love you guys very much and I am so glad to be home.
The next two photos are two of my favorites from the day. Adelynn in the golden afternoon sun, and another with her “poindexter” glasses on. Too cute!
